From Judges to Kings to THE KING
"Seeing As God Sees"
October 22, 2017. Message by Pastor Brandon Cash, drawn mainly from 1 Samuel, Chapters 16 and 17.
Pastor Brandon brings us insight into a passage that we all "know" - the story of David (the underdog) conquering Goliath (the giant). But there is much more to this story.
Pastor Brandon helps us see the contrasts revealed in this passage. Goliath - and Saul and David's oldest brother - Eliab - ALL had superior size, resources and experience when compared to David. However, "...the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart." (16:7b)
David had no size, resources or experience. But David looked at the battle to be waged and saw that God's Glory was at stake. David KNEW his God, and KNEW God would be victorious. David saw things the way God sees things.
If we stand up for God's Glory, we may not necessarily have immediate victory, but ultimately, we WILL have the victory. Our victory is in the name of Jesus Christ, who has been exalted and given the name that is above every other name, so that "...at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father." (Phil. 2:11-12)
