Advent & Christmas 2017
December 10, 2017. This is week two of our Advent series, and today Pastor Chris Robbins teaches a message on "Peace."
Pastor Chris opened his message with a reminder of the WW1 Christmas Day peace on Flanders Field - a one-day peace between the British and German soldiers, where they came together to sing carols, play soccer, and bury their dead... after which they resumed the war and continued it for years.
By contrast, God's peace is peace in the face of our troubles in this world, and a promise of future peace that will be constant and complete. Citing many scriptures, including Eph. 2:14-17, Matt. 10:34-39, John 16:29-33, 1 Cor. 7:12-16, Romans 8:6, Phil. 4:4-7, and 1 Peter 3:10-11, Pastor Chris challenged us to realize that peace is a gift from God to us - and we must seek it in Him with all our hearts. Additionally, we should seek to give God's peace away to others. We should be peacemakers and ambassadors of His peace, sharing the gospel and meeting the needs of those around us in His name.
