From Kings to the KING

"Making A Place For God"

February 4, 2018. Message taught by Pastor Joe Hellerman based on 1 Kings, chapters 6 - 8. (Also referenced: Exodus 20:21, Matthew 6:8, and Isaiah 66:1.)
King Solomon builds the temple and completes the temple in these three chapters. His prayer of dedication asks: "But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this house that I have built!"
Pastor Joe leads us to think on God's "Transcendence" - the "Otherness" of God - our God who cannot be contained. But complementing this is God's "Immanence" - our God is a God who is near - who hears our prayers.
