We are offering a free two-part seminar on Sundays, December 10th and December 17th for all who want information and resources regarding the care of aging loved ones. Whether you are currently caring for a loved one or may have to provide care in the coming years, this seminar is worth checking out.

On Sunday, December 10th, Lauren Spiglanin, founder of Family Connect Care, will lead Part One: "The Many Dimensions of Caring for an Aging Loved One." She will cover the basics of knowing when care is needed, how to get needed assistance and the common signs of a memory impairment.

Then on Sunday, December 17th, our own Garee T. Gasperian, Attorney at Law, will lead Part 2: "Diminished Capacity: Victimization and Other Dangers - A Discussion." He will cover what diminished capacity is and its various side effects such as undue influence, elder abuse and mandated reporting; and suggest how to prepare for diminished capacity and how to avoid a Conservatorship.

Both sessions are free to attend and will meet during our 9:30am service in our High School Room.

About Our Speakers

Lauren Spiglanin
Owner and founder of Family Connect Care

Lauren founded Family Connect Care in 2008 after working with the elderly and memory-impaired for several years. Seeing first-hand examples of mistreatment and taking advantage of memory-impaired individuals, she saw the need for enhanced care management services and to assure the dignity of those who suffer from a variety of cognitive impairments.

Lauren has a love for older people, whom she refers to as, “chronologically gifted.” Some have even called her the, “Dementia Whisperer,” due to her innate ability to intuitively know what her clients need, even when they can’t express it for themselves.

Lauren earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of LaVerne. Lauren holds many certifications related to aging and memory care. Among these, she is certified in gerontology by the California Board of Registered Nursing and in Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment. She is also certified by the Validation Training Institute in Validation Therapy.

Lauren is licensed by the State of California in Residential Care for the Elderly (RCFE) Administration, license #6031850740.
